A full house for #DisArtsYYC!

A packed house for #DisArtsYYC on September 28, 2017

It was the first major in-house exhibition opening for the Indefinite Arts Centre, and it gave attendees a glimpse into the entire artistic process our artists experience. On September 28, 2017, the Centre launched #DisArtsYYC with a bang. Close to 100 guests filled our creation studio and gallery to learn about the new Indefinite Arts Centre, meet and interact with artists and artist instructors, and hear about the Centre’s future direction from new Executive Director JS Ryu.

Prior to the formal part of the evening, guests were invited to the creation studio to meet with our artists who were enthusiastic about showing their works in progress. Guests were also invited to express their own creativity by contributing to a collaborative piece that will soon be ready to showcase in our Centre.

Board Chair Jeff de Boer and Executive Director JS Ryu gave opening remarks during the formal receptions in our gallery, but the real highlights of the evening were JorDen Tyson and her beautiful singing of Blackbird and artist Heather Jackson who shared her story about her experience at the Indefinite Arts Centre – and what it means to her.

With good food, good music, great company and a fantastic display of talent from artists at the Indefinite Arts Centre, the opening reception for #DisArtsYYC was seen by many as a great success – and the start of a new chapter for the Indefinite Arts Centre.
